Google
  • School Google Apps for Education Accounts made - for staff etc

  • Staff member is one of the Admin users (to deal quickly with issues)

Parents

    • 1st consultation establishing desire & appropriate pricing
    • 2nd consultation discussing payment method & responsibilities include discussion of “why rent”

  • Ensure "Issue of Stationery Form” includes $40 Bond item on it for presentation @ WINZ
  • Parent sign-up of:
    • Contract, Direct Debit form
    • Needs to be a supported signing, including talk around monthly payment date
    • Interface with Budget Service if necessary
    If parent has money management with the Budget Service, they will pay on parent’s behalf. At present this is the only acceptable exception to Direct Debit. Payment date will need to be set
Netbooks
  • Create spreadsheet to track students who have paid for Netbooks
  • Add parent white pages data to Netbook Spreadsheet & check.
  • Ensure office staff are fully informed to be able to interface with parents and teachers accurately
  • File System in place for Student Agreement forms
  • Secure storage for Netbook on arrival organised

Class Teacher:

Google
  • Has become very familiar with the Teacher Dashboard
  • Has ensured every student is comfortable logging in and out of their own G Apps account
  • Knows who to call or where to look to troubleshoot student problems with logins and passwords
Netbooks
  • Understands school system for finding out who has paid
  • Understands secure storage system
  • Understands warranty and insurance process for own class
Pedagogy - Teaching and Learning
  • Has Plan A, B and C for the first day and the first week, and a robust Plan D incase the other 3 fail
  • Has planned routines from desk arrangements to security at lunchtime to what to leave for a class reliever
  • has facilitator contact details
  • Has noted in diary the networking meetings after school with other Netbook teachers

Facilitator(s)

  • Has access to the class/ school G Apps to trouble shoot/assist

Netbook Imaging:


Equipment needed  -organised by imaging team
  • labels
    • laminated labels for bags
    • labels for boxes
    • labels for netbooks and powerpacks
    • library stickers for labels
  • Printout of paperwork
    • Class list(s)
    • Serial numbers (back-up for if internet access is not availabel!)

Contact school in advance to advise what is required of them for the imaging process. 
NB: We like to image half a class set at a time (ie 16 netbooks)


Things the school needs to supply:
  • 2 x USB sticks to keep at school with the netbook image on - for the student technicians to trouble shoot
  • Library book labels (clear sticky labels)
  • Secure room to work in
  • Secure storage before the boxes are opened and after they are re-sealed
  • Sufficient access to power to give the Netbooks a decent charge so that when the students receive them they can at least set them up without battery discharging
    • Multi boxes and extension cords if needed
  • Clear table space
  • Provide a key for the door so we are not left unable to leave /take a break
  • At least one adult representing the school to remain through the process - could be a TA or BOT person if school is small
  • Student technicians to train as part of the process
