CyberSmart Implementation 2012 In 2012 the schools have begun implementing the draft CyberSmart curriculums they are developing. Updates on that will begin appearing on this page. CyberSmart Development 2011
In the second half of 2011 a group of Manaiakalani lead teachers and facilitators began co-constructing an approach to teaching and learning in our schools which specifically addresses the needs of students, teachers and parents who have the potential to be digitally connected 24/7. We began by identifying the categories we believe should be included in a CyberSmart curriculum, looking at the work already being done around the world in this area, and gathering resources. We created a Google Site where we could work co-operatively and collate our ideas. The categories we have identified are: Smart Relationships, Smart Footprint, Smart Media, Smart Surfing, Smart Learners, Smart Relationships, Smart and Legal, Smart Money, Smart Values, Smart Teachers and Smart Parents. On December 2nd the Manaiakalani lead teachers came together to work through the material we had already gathered and to prepare teaching resources for 2012. Each school's representatives began working towards a curriculum individualised for their own context, with a view to taking it back to their staff and developing it further for implementation in 2012. The photos below were taken at the end of the day before the teachers took their planning back to their own schools. |
