Cloud Solution- The student profile will follow them throughout their school life, from school to school, from year to year until they leave secondary school
- Every teacher, student and parent will know the taxonomy of the electronic portfolio
Devices/Laptops- Students are provisioned with the Cloud Solution only
- Teacher laptops are provisioned with the Cloud Solution and the school LAN
- Devices are imaged to enable hot-swapping
- Devices are standardized and will be the same for students from years 5 to 13 across primary and secondary school
- Device providers will have a local presence to enable value add:
- Holding adequate stock to enable hot-swapping
- Defined payment
- Imaging
- Free sleeve
- Length of warranty
- Price within parameters
Security- The security profile determines user access:
- Teachers have access to both the Cloud Solution and the school LAN
- Students have access to the Cloud Solution only
- Students do not have administrator access to devices
- Authentication is in the Cloud for each user to access the solution
- Web filtering for content is provisioned by an online filtering service and is based on a rules set of what students are given access to
Support- If the issue cannot be resolved within 5 minutes the device must be hot-swapped and re-imaged
- The school needs to have access to additional devices that can access the Cloud. If the student’s devices are left at home, breaks or has issues that cannot be resolved within 5 mins, then the student needs to be able to continue to work by accessing either a desktop device in the classroom or a “loan” wireless mobile device.
- Schools have a number of students that are trained to deliver first line support
WAN- Teachers and students are able to roam seamlessly
- Any device roaming the education network has access to filtered content appropriate to educational requirements
- The WAN is designed to allow for extension of use, over time, outside of the initial purpose of education
